There are many reasons why young people choose to use drugs. Whatever the reason, it's important that you both know the affects it can have on the body.
If you are worried about a child or young person using alcohol or drugs you can speak to a school nurse or the substance misuse champion at your local multi-agency team or contact Support for Families & Carers of Drug Misusers (SPODA) on tel: 0800 068 5718. Your local multi-agency team can also support families and close friends.
If a young person needs more specialist support, a referral can be made to Derbyshire change, grow, live. This is a free and confidential service for all young people aged from ten to nineteen which aims to help reduce the risks and harm associated with alcohol or drug misuse.

Derbyshire Community Safety recovery support have a number of charities and organisations in Derbyshire offering recovery support in a variety of ways for people who may be coming to the end of their time in treatment but want to get involved in recovery-based community activities to help them stay on track, learn new skills or just to give something back to other people.
